May 22, 2016, Boston, MA Today my daughter called me with exciting news about a documentry on the Steel Pan on TV. She was elated to see not only the show but her son's being glued to the TV wacthing it. I was in church at the time and I told her I would call her back. Eight hours later she called me and she was still excited about the show and how great it was that she was able to learn about the development of Steel Pan from Trinidad where I am from. My Grandson Dylan and his sister Jordan were exposed to steel pan music during my their great grand mother's funeral repast when myself and my brothers started playing in tribute to Manuelita Johnson who was one of the founders of our Rhythm Section Band Tempo. They both grabed sticks and joined in playing the insruments like if they had been playing for year both of them under 5. Thank you Shanaye for sharing Afropop because I can now share it with the rest of the world. Big Up log on to AFROPOP
Black Radio Still Hating on Dance Hall & Soca Music
Mr. Vegas made his point clear that Artists such as Drake are capitalizing on the exotic beats in Soca and Dance Hall culture while Caribbean artists don’t get airplay or credit for their work on chart topping hits. Mr. Vegas was not just talking about Drake but Black Radio, which to this day do not play Dance Hall, or Soca in their regular rotation even though the music is what’s popping today. Who would of thought that Black Radio would be used to divide and conquer black people from embracing their own culture as one. Yes I said it, just as we have segregated schools, we have a segregated music industry that is controlled by people who do not look like us and don’t give a shit about us. All the American Recording Industry is concerned about is making money and nothing else. The Broadcast industry will continue to exploit and use artists as their slaves and use the airwaves are like they used the waves of the ocean to transport us into slavery. A radio program director is the slave master that is use to control what was played on the Radio, but today corporate CEOs and CFOs control everything in Radio because gone are the Mom and Pop Stations. If you listen closely to the DJ on HOT97 (whoever they are) that were shit talking to Vegas, you will hear one of them say “he didn't like Mr. Vegas’s song so he didn't play it”, which is bullshit because the fact is he couldn't play it even if he wanted to, because he is restricted by a clock that tells him what to play and when to play it. Everything that he says and plays is recorded and monitored by the Masters and they dictate what he can say at all times. It is time for Caribbean Music Industry artists to unify and control our own destiny become a member of the Caribbean Academy of Recording Arts and Science, contact email@example.com

Footprints in the Concrete May 30th at Hibernian Hall
Domingo Guyton, Footprints in the Concrete
HOPE Multimedia Company is proud to present the Official Screening of Footprints in the Concrete. Written, Produced and Directed by Domingo Guyton, Footprints in the Concrete is a musical depiction of how a family, church, college and community came together to save a youth, trapped in a cycle of hopelessness and without a father in his home. View the Official Footprints trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNG0mT5uCa8
Through the basis of the film, Domingo Guyton often reverts back to his childhood as a struggle; attempting to survive in the mixed pot of drugs, misogyny and violence that Boston, MA delved out in the late 1980’s. Born to a single mother on welfare, Guyton went through a series of events that spun his life out of control by the age of 15. He adds that many of his past issues were due to not having a father in his home and this story also shows the sterotypical results of broken homes. The redemptive message of hope is included and will serve as an inspiration to all attendees.
Official Screening: Hibernian Hall, 184 Dudley Street, Boston, MA on May 30, 2016. You can purchase tickets now for $15: Purchase Your Tickets now! At 6pm will be Hors D’Oeuvres and Red Carpet and the film will begin screening at 7pm. For more information, contact Mark Roberts @ 646-599-0020 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
